Access permission to an object is based on the concept of user groups. For each application, component, business capability, etc., one or more user groups are specified by the user creating the object. The users in the user groups specified for the object will be able to see the object in Alfabet FastLane.
object
An object is a generic term that refers to an instance of an object class for which data can be captured in Alfabet FastLane. For example, an object could be an application, component, information flow, organization, etc. that is documented in the IT inventory.
user group
A user group determines the visibility of objects. One or more user groups may be granted authorized access to an object. The object is visible to all users assigned to a specified user group.
Please note that a person assigned to an object's authorized user groups will not have read/write access permissions based on the user group definition. If the user shall have read/write permissions to an object, they must be assigned to a user profile that has read/write permissions.
user profile
A user profile determines the preconfigured set of functionalities and views in Alfabet FastLane. Every user must have at least one user profile to log in. The user profile will grant either read-only or read/write permissions to the objects that are visible to the user.
To create a new user group:
Go to Account Management < User Group Administration.
The User Groups explorer displays all existing user groups. Any user group, whether a root or descendant group, may contain an unlimited number of users.

To assign users to a user group:
Go to Account Management < User Administration.
Select a user and navigate to the profile. Open the User Group Memberships view. Click New > Assign User Groups and select the user groups to assign to the user.
