Get started with the Technology Manager user profile

Alfabet FastLane enables a single-source of truth about the technologies in your IT portfolio. All components should be documented to ensure that the technology portfolio is reliable to make good strategic decisions. You can add new components to the repository and maintain the data on components that are already in the system.

The Technology Manager user profile is for users who are responsible for capturing data relevant for technology portfolio management. A user with this user profile has the following permissions:

• Edit permissions for components
• Read-only permissions for refererence data

Users with the Technology Manager user profile can create new components and capture relevant details about a component. With the Technology Manager user profile, you can see existing references that components have to the applications that use them but you will not be able to specify these references. These are done by a user with either the Application Manager or Portfolio Manager user profile.

The visibility of components as well as other assets in Alfabet FastLane is based on the concept of user groups. Therefore, you will only see the components that are assigned to the user groups you have been assigned to. You can view your user groups by clicking Object Access in the left navigation panel. Components that you create are assigned to your user group per default, but the user group definition can be changed.
