Decide which data you want to see

The data table is the default view when you first open the data workbench. All objects that you have permissions for will be displayed in the data workbench the first time you go to it.

Each column in the data workbench represents either standard attributes, indicator types, roles, or generic attributes

  • The indicator icon and semantic value is displayed for indicators.
  • The name of the person or organization along with the respective person or organization icon is displayed for roles.

The first thing you should do is structure the data workbench by deciding which information you want to display. The data table is where you can see all of your data, specify the columns of information you want to display, and define filters to limit the dataset to the assets you are most interested in. Your settings will be saved and displayed the next time you return to the data workbench. Click  ThreeDots > Switch to Default View to return to the default settings.

If the dataset is large or you need to work with a subset of data, you can set filters to reduce the number of assets to only those that are relevant for your current information needs. The column structure and filter settings are persistent and will be displayed when you return to the data workbench, but you can change them at anytime.

If filters are set, only the assets visible in the dataset will be displayed in data visualizations. This enables you to create an ad-hoc data source that is relevant for a visualization like a bar chart, Gantt chart, Kanban board, etc.

  1. Ensure that you are working in the data table. If not, click Visualize > Data Table.
  2. Add, remove, and reorder the columns in the data table. Click Structure to open the panel to structure the columns. Columns that are included in the dataset are first in the list of columns. Scroll down to view columns that are not currently included in the dataset.
    • Set the toggle switch on to include the column. Set the toggle switch off to remove the column from the data table.
    • Enter text in the search field to find a column.
    • Drag-and-drop a column to change the order of the columns.
  3. Reorder the data in the columns: Click the column header to switch the order of the data between ascending and descending order.
  4. Filter the data in the dataset: Any filters that are set are displayed at the bottom left of the data workbench next to the  dlt-icon-filter_Teal button. You can clear all filters by clicking Clear at the bottom right:
    • Filter the data in columns: Click the  dlt-icon-filter_Teal icon at the top of a column. Set a checkmark for all values that you want to display. The button at the bottom will show all values that have been hidden via the filter settings. Click the link to open the Filter Builder to view and modify the operators of the query.
    • Filter the data using operators: Click the  dlt-icon-filter_Teal button at the bottom left of the data workbench to open the Filter Builder:

      FilterBuilder_X

If a filter has already been defined for columns, the settings done in the column header are added as an AND combined condition to the existing filter.

      Define a condition
Change the operator combining the conditions
Add new operators combining a sub-set of conditions
      Remove a filter element
      Clear the complete filter
      Deactivate the filter
