Check your data quality and edit your data

You can edit all data in the data workbench if you have read-write permissions via your user profile affiliation and the objects have a release status that permits editing. For details about permissions, see Open the door to Alfabet FastLane: User profiles and access permissions .

  1. Ensure that you are working in the data table. If not, click Visualize Data > Data Table.
  2. Access information about data you want to edit: The following options are available to access more information about an object displayed in the data workbench:
    • Click and hold on a row to display the preview about the object.
    • Click a hyperlink in a column to navigate to object details about the referenced object.
  3. Edit the data: You can edit the basic information displayed in the data table or provide more detailed data for an object:
    • Edit directly in the data table. Type text directly in a cell and click ENTER to save. Or select the value in the drop-down list, selector, or date picker and click ENTER to save.

      Only one person or organization is displayed for a role in the data workbench. If multiple persons and organizations are defined for a role, the most recent one defined in the context of the data workbench will be displayed. If you change the person or organization for a role in the data workbench, a new role is added to the object but the role that you changed is be deleted from the object.

    • Edit the data in a wizard. Select the checkbox  DWB_Checkbox for the object you want to edit and click the Edit   dlt-icon-edit_Teal button. Switch between the tabs to enter data in fields or use the Go to Step menu to switch to other parts of the wizard. Click Next or EXIT to save the data you enter.
    • Navigate to capture more information. Click the Navigate   Navigate button in the first column of an object to navigate to the object details view. Switch tabs to access information about the object. Each tab has different various views. Click the view title to open the view and see all content and to edit data.
  4. Fix data quality issues: You can explicitly check the quality of your data and fix those issues to improve the value of your data repository:
    • Display data quality indicators to identify data issues. Click Structure Data > Add/Remove Indicators and select Data Quality Score. You could also add the Data Quality Severity and Data Quality Calculation Date attributes.
    • Go to the data quality report to correct data issues: Click the Navigate   Navigate button in the first column of an object with a poor data quality score. Switch to the Data Quality tab. In the Data Quality Details view, review the data quality issues. Click a link in the Resolution column to fix an issue.
