Capture the information context

Specify information flows: In the navigation panel, click Information Architecture > Information Flows to open the data workbench for information flows.​ Add a new information flow via the New  button, or edit an information flow displayed in the data table by selecting the checkbox  DWB_Checkbox for the object you want to edit and click the Edit   dlt-icon-edit_Teal button. Define the Source Application and Target Application fields to specify which application is the source of the transfer of information and which is the target of the transfer of information. Define other attributes as needed:

  • Short Name to identify the information flow in diagrams and other visualizations
  • Object State: (recommended) Describes the operational status of the information flow and indicates whether it is actively used, planned to be used, or has been used in the past. The information can only be set to Active if both the source and target application have an active object state.
  • Release Status: (recommended) Describes the level of approval of the documented information about the information flow.
  • Name Suffix: (recommended) The suffix helps to distinguish information flows with the same source and target applications.
  • Define the connection details about the information flow in the Connection Method, Connection Type, Connection Frequency, and Connection Data Format fields.

Add data categories to bundle business data: In the navigation panel, click Information Architecture > Data Categories to open the data workbench for data categories.

  1. To add a new data category at the top level of the explorer hierarchy, click the Data categories node and open the Data Categories view to add a new data category at the top level of the explorer hierarchy.
  2. To add a subordinate data category, click a data category in the explorer and open the Subordinate Data Categories view.
  3. To add business data to an data category, click a data category in the explorer, go to the Overview tab and open the Business Data view. You can add new business data or move existing business data to the data category you selected in the explorer.

Add business data that information flows transfer: In the navigation panel, click Information Architecture > Business Data to open the data workbench for business data.​ Add a new business data via the New  button, or edit a business data displayed in the data table by selecting the checkbox  DWB_Checkbox for the object you want to edit and click the Edit   dlt-icon-edit_Teal button.

  1. To specify that an information flow transfers the business data, click Information Architecture > Information Flows to open the data workbench for information flows.​ Select a information flow and click the navigate button. Go to the Overview tab and open the Business Data view. You can add new business data that the information transfers or specify business data already in the repository.
