Assign data sources to Bar chart
To display a Bar chart you have to assign a relevant data source to the component.
The component requires an Event, BigMemory, CSV, XML, ARIS Table or JDBC data source.
Procedure
1. Create or open a dashboard in MashZone NextGen Dashboard. 2. Click an inserted chart component. The relevant properies dialog is displayed.
3. Click the Assign Data icon to edit the data source assignment. The Edit Data Souce dialog will be displayed. Here you can select a data source and create dynamic Input Parameters. The Data Flow box shows an overview of the data source configuration.
4. Optionally you can create input parameters.
You can define dynamical and reusable input parameters for XML data sources, RAQL queries and ARIS table, see
Create Input Parameters.
5. Select a data source operator in the Add a data source area and specify your settings.
a. Assign Event data source.
b. Assign BigMemory data source.
c. Assign CSV data source.
d. Assign XML data source.
e. Assign ARIS Table data source.
f. Assign JDBC data source.
6. In addition to the data source operator you can add further operators to transform the source data.
a. Select an operator, e. g. Change data type, in the Add data operations area. The relevant operator will be displayed.
b. Specify your settings.
c. You can display a preview of the transformed source data of each operator. This enables you to track all data changes step by step. Click the Calculate peview icon of an operator. 7. Click Next.
8. Assign Data columns to chart axis.
You can assign a separate column to a chart axis as dimension (X-Axis) or KPI (Y-Axis). You can display one dimension and several KPIs or two dimensions and one KPI in the chart.
a. Assign a Data column to the X-Axis as dimension via drag and drop. Enter a New Column Name and Axis Name if necessary.
b. Optionally, assign a Data column to the Partition as second dimension via drag and drop. Enter a New Column Name and Axis Name if necessary.
c. Assign one or more Data column to the Y-Axis as KPI via drag and drop. Enter a New Column Name, select a Format in the dop down menu and change the Aggregation type if necessary.
9. Edit the Y-Axis properties.
a. Click on the Y-Axis box.
b. Assign a axis title to the Y-Axis manually. By default, the axis title consists of the concatenated names of the assigned columns. Instead you can assign an individual name to the Y-Axis. Activate the Manual Axis Title option and enter a title in the Axis Title input field.
c. Select an output format for the Y-Axis in the Axis Format selection box. The selected format overwrites the formats of the individual assigned columns. By default, the individual formats are used for tool tip display. If desired, you can add a prefix or postfix to the format, e. g. $ 1,234 or 1,234 mm.
d. Assign a Data Range to the Y-Axis. By default, the complete data range of the data source is used. You can restrict the data range by setting a lower (From) and upper (To) limit. To adapt automatically the Data Range to the incoming data you can activate the Dynamically adapt data range option. The option adapt the limits in the case the incoming data are beyond the set limits.
10. Click Edit Data Source to change the source settings.
11. Click OK.
The chart will be displayed with real data of the assigned data source.
