We want to inform you of a change concerning conventions for our mainframe corrections. These changes are effective by 26 March 2002. Main features are new conventions for the correction ID, download from Empower, and the tape order process. This is covered in the topics below.
Step by step, we will introduce a correction ID for mainframe corrections. This correction ID will have the following configuration: pppvrsannn.
This means:
ppp | The product code for the product to which the correction belongs. |
---|---|
vrs | The version, release, maintenance level for the product to which the correction belongs. |
annn | An index which specifies the correction. The alphanumeric field might be used as an indicator for the correction type. |
NAT315L003
This correction is for Natural Version 3.1.5, is a type LOAD, and its index is 003.
Note:
The data set within that correction might not necessarily have
the same index as the correction. For example, the data set behind NAT315L003
might be NAT315.L005.
Additionally, we will supply corrections which consist of more than one data set. This will be marked in Empower as subsets (e.g. ALLE001 1 of 3, ...). Which means: each data set has to be downloaded individually (i.e. on its own). For additional information, see Downloading Corrections.
In any case, the download window offers a target file name such as correctionid-opstype.SNT.
Which means:
correctionid | See above. |
---|---|
ops | The operating system of the relevant correction you are downloading. |
type | The last 4 bytes of the data set name. |
NAT315L003-MVSL005.SNT
The correction ID is the base communication item concerning
corrections. This means: When ordering a tape, the VOLSER
no
longer needs to be known for that correction. Supplying the correction ID will
be sufficient.
Searches in Empower for corrections may also be conducted using the correction ID as criteria.
The "Knowledge Center - Correction" document layout has undergone a major change. These changes are the result of customer feedback to improve usage and readability. As well as to fulfill the requirements for handling the new "Conventions for our Mainframe Corrections". All downloads are now grouped by their operating systems. For additional information, see Downloading Corrections.
