Analyze the data: How will IT failure impact our business?
The business question How will IT failure impact our business? provides a high-level end-to-end view of your IT technology landscape. This offers insight to which business capabilities will fail due to an IT outage. The diagram highlights the susceptibility of locations and servers as well as the applications and the business capabilities that are at risk.
To open this business question, go to the left navigation panel, click to expand Business Questions, click to expand Risk and click How will IT failure impact our business?
A selected application is shown in the center of the diagram with business capabilities that the application supports to the left of the application. To the right of the application are the servers the applications are installed on and the locations where the servers are located.
Understand the underlying IT that an application runs on. Select an application in the Application filter field to view servers and locations that deploy the application and to understand which business capabilities would be impacted due to a server outage.
Understand which physical servers host which applications. Select a server in the Physical Server filter field. Navigate to the application to understand which components that are running on the server in the context of an application.
Understand the failure endpoints in the IT architecture. Select a location in the Location filter field in order review which servers are impacted in case of local shut-downs and which business capabilities would be impacted by IT failure at those locations.
Understand which applications provide support to a specific business capability. Select a business capability in the Business Capability filter field to understand which servers and locations are critical to the support of the business capability.
Understand the severity of the impact of an IT outage for your company's business. Select a value in the Business Relevance filter to understand the severity of failure of a server or location for business capabilities. For example, you could select Mission Critical to see which business capabilities are most important to the business.
