Starting and Stopping Databases

Start of instruction setTo start an inactive Adabas open systems database:

Note:
You can specify that the database is started when the operating system starts. To do this, righ-click the database name and choose Enable Start as Service in the dropdown menu.

Start of instruction setTo stop an Adabas database:

  1. Select the Adabas database in tree-view.

  2. Right-click the database name in tree-view.

  3. Select Stop Database on the drop-down menu.

    The session termination selection is displayed in detail-view. You have the following choices:

    Important:
    Only open systems databases can be started with Adabas Manager; a mainframe database which has been stopped must be restarted by the DBA.

  4. Choose how you want to stop the database by clicking in the appropriate check box for the user until a check mark appears and click OK to confirm.

    Or:
    Click Cancel to continue working with this database.

    If you have chosen to stop the database, the shutdown information is displayed in detail-view and you are asked to confirm the shutdown.

  5. Click OK to confirm the shutdown.

    The database information is displayed in detail-view, with the target marked as inactive.

Note:
If you have logged in to protected mainframe databases, the drop-down menu will offer you an additional menu item; Logout All terminate all sessions with protected databases.
