Every user must have a valid OneData user account to access the application. User privileges are governed by the role associated with the user account. Each user account must be assigned at least one role to perform any functions in OneData. Users with administrator privileges can manage user accounts and user groups, including lock, unlock, or temporarily deactivate a user account. You can access these options through the Administer > Security menu on the Menu toolbar.
User groups are an easy way to assign privileges and grant multiple users access to a module, for example, to assign to users access to workflow. User groups may contain multiple user accounts. Individual users or user groups can be used as part of the approval process. For more information about user groups and workflow, see Implementing webMethods OneData.
In addition to user roles, OneData also provides the built-in user account, Anonymous User. The user assigned to this role can access OneData without a login and password. This is useful for sharing non-sensitive information. An anonymous user has the same security privileges as those assigned to the user who is set up as Anonymous User. You cannot delete the built-in Anonymous User or assign it as a backup user.
OneData provides support for workflow management with user accounts. For every user account, except the Anonymous User, you can appoint another user as a backup and a supervisor user:
*Backup Users: Backup users automatically receive workflow or change management requests during a designated date range. This feature is useful to manage workload or when a user is out of the office.
*Supervisor User: Supervisor users receive workflow escalation events. For more information about workflow escalation, see Implementing webMethods OneData.
