OneData Metadata Registry (referred to interchangeably as OneData MDR or OneData Registry) is a packaged software (Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software) developed and marketed to provide organizations with a strategic architectural framework. OneData MDR provides tools to build, manage, and deploy metadata registries compliant with ISO/IEC 11179 standards. OneData MDR includes a repository built on the ISO/IEC 11179-compliant data model and provides the functionality to access and maintain the repository.
The ISO/IEC 11179 metadata registry standards promote common understanding, standardization, and re-use of components of data within and across organizations. A metadata registry (MDR) stores the common understanding of terms in a predefined standardized meta-model and terminology. Such metadata registries provide a way to organize the content and representation of data elements so that you can consistently use data descriptions and re-use them.
Managing an MDR involves creating the data model and presentation layer for maintaining the model and data values, stringent security rules, and embedded workflow and registration process. You can customize the processes according to your business needs within the context of the standards.
