Commands


Direct Commands

Direct commands can be used to invoke screens directly, without passing the functional screen hierarchy.

You can enter a direct command in the command line (Command =>) of a screen.

Unless otherwise noted, all parameters are required.

The following direct commands are available:

ADD

ADD [object-type [object-name]]

This command adds object definitions for various Entire Output Management object types.

On most Maintenance screens you can invoke the ADD command by pressing PF2. You can add object definitions of the following types with the following commands:

ADMIN

ADMIN

This command displays the System Administration Menu.

Corresponds to the command MENU ADMIN.

CLOSE

CLOSE PHYSICAL [printer-name]

This command stops a physical printer.

To stop a whole group of physical printers, you specify printer-name with an asterisk (*).

CONTENTS BUNDLES

CONTENTS BUNDLES [bundle-name]

This command lists the contents of the specified bundle.

COPY

COPY [object-type [object-name]]

You can copy object definitions of the following types with the following commands:

Physical printers  COPY PHYSICAL <printer-name>
Logical printers  COPY PRINTERS <printer-name>
Reports  COPY REPORTS <report-name>  
Natural Security users  COPY SECURITY  -

Example:

To copy the Report definition DEPT-COMP, you enter the following command in the command line of any screen:

COPREPORTS DEPT-COMP

DELETE

DELETE [object-type [object-name]]

You can delete object definitions of the following types with the following commands:

Bundles  DELETE BUNDLES <bundle-name>
Calendars  DELETE CALENDARS <calendar-name><year>  
Distribution lists  DELETE LISTS <list-name>
Logical printers  DELETE PRINTERS <printer-name>

Example:

To delete the report definition ADMIN-ACCOUNT, you enter the following command in the command line of any screen:

DELETE REPORT ADMIN-ACCOUNT

DISPLAY

DISPLAY [object-type [object-name]]

 You can display object definitions of the following types with the following commands:

Distribution lists  DISPLAY LISTS <list-name>

 If you try to display a non-existing object, or if you enter only the object-type parameter, the object Maintenance screen displays the list of objects for the object type. You can then select the object to be displayed.

Example:

To display the definition for the bundle DEP-PROD, you enter the following command in the command line of any screen:

DISPLAY BUNDLE DEP-PROD

DLOG

DLOG [object-type]

 This command displays log information for the given object type.

The default object type is monitor.

EXIT

EXIT

 This command returns to the previous screen. When invoked from the Main Menu, this command terminates your Entire Output Management session.

Corresponds to the function of PF3.

FIN

FIN

 This command terminates the Natural session.

FLUSH

FLUSH BUNDLE [bundle-name]

 This command prints a bundle immediately.

FOLLOW

FOLLOW

This command displays the time the Monitor was last activated.

HELP

HELP

This command displays a Help screen related to the current screen.

Corresponds to the function of PF1.

IXREF

This command is only available to system administrators.

It allows a cross-reference list of report identification criteria for the given identification type (such as job name, writer and so on) to be displayed or printed to Printer 1.

LIST

LIST [object-type [object-name[further-parameters]]]

You can list object definitions of the following types with the following commands:

Example:

To display the Report Maintenance screen, you enter the following command in the command line of any screen:

LIST REPORTS

LOGON

LOGON user-ID password

This command allows you to log on to Entire Output Management under another user ID.

LOGON APPLICATION

LOGON APPLICATION [application][command]

This command allows you to log on another Natural application.

MASSDEL

MASSDEL

This command is only available to system administrators.

This command allows the mass deletion of reports, bundles, active reports or active bundles.

Warning:
Objects will be deleted, regardless if they have been archived or not.

MENU

MENU [menu-name]

To invoke the following menus, you use the following commands:

Corresponds to the function of PF12.

MODIFY

MODIFY [object-type [object-name[further-parameters]]]

You can modify object definitions of the following types with the following commands:

If you try to modify a non-existing object, or if you enter only the object-type parameter, the object maintenance screen displays the list of objects for the object type. You can then select the object to be modified.

Example:

To modify the report definition ADAREP-DB09, you enter the following command in the command line of any screen:

MODIFY	REPORT ADAREP-DB09

PROFILE

PROFILE

This command displays the current user ID and name and allows the default printer to be set.

QUIT

QUIT

This command ends your Entire Output Management session.

SELECT

SELECT

This command is used to set and clear selection criteria for report, bundle printout, printer and miscellaneous object selection.

SET

SET [parameter-1 [parameter-2]]

This command sets session parameters that affect the DELETE and MODIFY commands.

Command Explanation
SET COMMIT OFF This is the default setting. When you have modified an object and exit without pressing PF5 (Do) to commit your changes, the Commit Modifications window opens and you must enter Y or N.
SET COMMIT ON With this command, the Commit Modifications window does not open and modifications are committed by pressing ENTER or PF5 (Do).
SET CONFIRM ON This is the default setting. When you delete an object, a window opens, requesting you to confirm deletion by typing the object name again.
SET CONFIRM OFF With this command, the object is deleted immediately and you are not asked to confirm.
SET LANGUAGE 1 Set the language for the user interface to English.
SET LANGUAGE 2 Set the language for the user interface to German.

SHUTDOWN

SHUTDOWN

This command closes the Monitor.

When you invoke this command, a window opens in which you can confirm Monitor shutdown by entering SHUTDOWN. "Shutdown in progress" appears in the Status field. This means that the Monitor has not yet detected the close because it is in wait status. The next time the Monitor is active, it closes normally and "Closed" appears in the Status field.

To resume without closing the Monitor, press PF3 (Exit) instead of entering SHUTDOWN.

This command invokes Natural ISPF, if it is installed.

START

START [object-type [object-name]]

You can start the following subtasks with the following commands:

Reviver  START REVIVER1  

* 1 When you issue this command, a window is displayed, requesting you to specify the starting time of the appropriate task.

An object-name can only be specified for physical printers. You can specify object-name with an asterisk (*) to start a whole group of physical printers.

TECH

TECH

This command displays system-relevant technical information.

TRACE

TRACE

This command displays the Trace Report Processing screen. For more information, see the section Tracing Report Processing under POWER in the User's Guide.

TRANSFER

TRANSFER [object-type]

You can copy the following objects to another database with the following commands:

Distribution lists  TRANSFER LISTS
Logical printers  TRANSFER PRINTERS
Physical printers  TRANSFER PHYSICAL

XREF

XREF

This command is only available for system administrators.

It allows a cross-reference list of separation or printer exit usage or report or bundle separator page usage to be displayed or printed on Printer 1.

Option Codes

With option codes, you can invoke most screens directly, without having to go through the functional screen hierarchy.

An option code consists of a number preceded by a "greater than" sign (>).

You enter an option code in the Command=> line at the bottom of the screen.

The following option codes are available:

Navigation Commands

You can navigate within list or browse screens with the following PF keys:

PF1 Help Invoke context-sensitive help.
PF3 Exit Exit a function.
PF4 Flip Toggle between display of PF keys 1-12 and 13-24.
PF5 Do Commit the changes.
PF6 Undo Backout changes made so far.
PF7 Up Scroll one screen up.
PF8 Down Scroll one screen down.
