Loading Binary Host Files to OS/400

All corrections (program patches, INPL, etc.) of Software AG products for AS/400 are stored within Empower as binary PC data sets. The download data set name conforms to the following convention:

LLvrsPuu.nnn

where:

This abbreviation stands for
LL a two-letter product short code, e.g. "NA" for Natural.
vrs Version, release and SM level of the product.
P Processor type: "R" for AS/400 RISC, "C" for AS/400 CISC.
uu Update level of this release.
nnn Patch number.

Note:
Usually, there are two separate download data sets for CISC processor machines (OS/400 version V2R3 to V3R5) and RISC processor machines (OS/400 version V3R6 and higher). You need to have TCP/IP installed on your AS/400 to upload via FTP the patch file from your PC.

Perform the following steps to download your patch file:

  1. Select the right data set for the processor type of your target AS/400 machine.

  2. Click to download the data set to your PC. The downloaded PC file is compressed.

  3. Rename the file extension to ".exe" and execute the file to expand it.

  4. Find one or more OS/400 data sets and a README.TXT file. The patch data sets are usually an OS/400 save file.

  5. Follow the instructions in the readme file to upload and install the correction on your AS/400.
