The Data Mapping Tool is installed when Adabas Manager and Event Replicator Administration are installed. For more information about installing Adabas Manager and Event Replicator Administration, read Installing Adabas Manager.
The default installation directory is a Mapping Tool directory wherever Adabas Manager program files are installed.
If you have installed the Data Mapping Tool in a Windows Vista environment and intend to share the Data Mapping Tool and its mapping data with multiple users, you must perform some configuration steps for the Data Mapping Tool prior to using it. These steps move the shared data files to the Vista public data area C:\Users\Public and create a modified copy of the Data Mapping Tool's configuration file to point to them.
The Windows Vista configuration steps you must perform are:
Make sure that you are logged on as an administrator on the machine where the Data Mapping Tool is installed.
Copy the following Data Mapping Tool subdirectories to C:\Users\Public\MappingTool:
data
systrans
logs
Locate the MT-Config.xml file wherever the Adabas Manager, Event Replicator Administration, and Data Mapping Tool program files are installed.
Copy the MT-Config.xml file to a location outside of the C:\Program Files directory. Windows Vista does not allow files in the C:\Program Files directory structure to be edited.
Delete the original MT-Config.xml file from its installed C:\Program Files location, wherever you found it in Step 2.
Edit the copy of the MT-Config.xml file using any
text editor. Change the </MappingFilePath>
,
</DDMFilePath>
, and
</LoggingFilePath>
entities in the
MT-Config.xml file, so that they direct mapping data files
and specifications to the path C:/Users/Public, as shown
below.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?> - <MTConfig> <MappingFilePath value="C:/Users/Public/MappingTool/data" /> <DDMFilePath value="C:/Users/Public/MappingTool/systrans" /> <DDMFileExtensions value=".systrans;.ddm" /> <LoggingFilePath value="C:/Users/Public/MappingTool/logs" /> <LoggingLevel value="DEBUG" /> <DefaultOccurrences value="5" /> </MTConfig>
Save the edits you have made and copy the file back to its original installed location in C:\Program Files, wherever you found it in Step 2.
Multiple users should now be able to use the Data Mapping Tool and share its mapped data.
