Each partitioned file is uniquely identified by a Profile ID, database number, and file number, together with a target category. In Natural systems, database and file numbers are defined in the DDM. The Profile ID and target category are set by the appropriate job parameter (defaults to blank Profile ID and default target category as specified on the Maintain Target Categories screen if no job parameter has been defined). The Profile ID and target category can be changed using an Adabas Vista API function.
Part-Field is the Adabas field used to distribute the data into the separate partitions.
A partitioned file definition may have a version status of published or draft. Only a published version can be executed; only a draft version can be modified.
Enter one of the following options in the C column to select an entry:

Each partition is identified by a database and file number that is used by Adabas Vista to direct a command in order to satisfy a request for data.
The Partition ID (Part ID) uniquely identifies a partition and, together with the Adabas ISN, forms the Adabas Vista ISN.
The field ACSI contains the partition options: Access, Critical, Shared Partition, Adabas TOPISN. In the case of Adabas TOPISN, a value of D means that the default TOPISN for the partitioned file is in use for that partition. A value of U means that the default TOPISN has been overridden.
The field Partitioning Field High Value is the highest value of the partitioning field that can reside in each partition.

A translation rule is used by Adabas Vista to re-direct a command from a source environment to a target environment. It is uniquely identified by a Profile ID and a source database and file number.
The Profile ID, a 1-8 character alphanumeric value, is an optional attribute for a translation rule. Each translation rule applies to a particular target category.
The source database and file number identifies the file to the application. In Natural systems, this is the database and file number defined in the DDM.
The target database and file number indicate where a qualified command is to be directed.
A translation rule has two versions: a published version and a draft version. Only the published version can be executed; only the draft version can be modified.

To position within the list, enter the job type and name in the fields under the <-- Reposition --> indicator in the top right area of the screen.
To add a new job definition
Press PF10 from the Maintain Job Parameters screen.

Enter a job name in the resulting window.
It is possible to enter one or more asterisks (*) to indicate a wild
card. For example, the job parameter with the name
CICS**PR
is found by any job with the name CICS in
positions 1-4 and PR in positions 7-8, no matter what the characters are in
positions 5-6. If an asterisk (*) is the last character in a job name, the
remainder of positions in the name through the eighth are padded with
asterisks.
The initial parameter values set up for the new job are copied from those specified in the *DEFAULT entry for the selected job type.
If no default entry exists for the job type, then Adabas Vista product default values are used.
Job parameters are always matched on type. The order of search within type is
Match on exact job name.
Match on wild card definitions.
Use the default for the job type, if one has been defined.
Note that the number of wild card job names defined for a job type has a direct effect on the number of Adabas commands needed to establish the job parameters at initialization. This is particularly relevant to batch jobs that process relatively few Adabas commands.
For an explanation of the Coordinator Group Name and Clustered Application Service Name, refer to the section Parameters and to the Adabas System Coordinator documentation.
To create a default job definition, select the appropriate job type and enter a "D" as the name.
Note:
Default job definitions are not available for job type CICS
Cluster.
A specific job definition overrides any default definition.
When a job parameter is added, control is returned to the job list.
To make changes to the parameter record just added, select the job from the list by marking column C with an "m".
To maintain a job parameter
Select it by entering one of the following options in column C on the Maintain Job Parameters screen:
d | display |
m | modify |
p | purge |
r | rename |
c | copy |
o | job parameter overrides |
Display and modify produce similar results. For purge, rename, and copy, you are prompted to confirm the action to be taken.
Job parameter overrides may be specified for the job by marking column C with "o".

These additional parameters are used by the Adabas ystem Coordinator to provide environmental support to Adabas Vista.
The Estimated Client Sessions and Fixed Memory Pool Size parameters are used to enhance the memory allocation and management for the job. The memory pools controlled by these parameters are dynamically expandable; however, performance may be improved by minimizing the number and frequency of pool expansions.
These parameters are explained in more detail in section Using Adabas Vista with Cluster Services and the Adabas System Coordinator documentation.
Job parameter overrides can be specified by marking column C with "o" for a job.
