B2B Integration : Managing File Transfers with ActiveTransfer : Managing Virtual Folders in a Virtual File System : User Access Propagation in VFS
User Access Propagation in VFS
ActiveTransfer now propagates user access in the VFS as follows:
*If you grant a user, access privileges to a subfolder, the user will automatically get access to traverse through the parent folders.
*If you grant a user, access privileges to a folder, all the subfolders will inherit the access privileges for the user from the parent folder.
*You can override the inherited access privileges and specify a different set of privileges to a folder for a user, which will then be inherited by the subfolders defined under the folder.
Let us consider the following VFS scenario in ActiveTransfer:
Let us grant the ActiveTransfer user, Mike access to the Marketing folder in the VFS. The following permissions are automatically assigned to the parent folder and the subfolders of Marketing:
*Folder traversal permission: The parent folder Data will have folder traversal permission for the user, Mike. This means that the user can browse through the Data folder to the Marketing folder.
*Inherited permission from parent folder: The Marketing subfolders, inbound and outbound will inherit the permissions defined in the parent folder for the user, Mike.
You might choose to override the permissions inherited from the parent folder and define your own permissions for the user at the subfolder level. For details, see Specifying User Access Privileges for a Subfolder.
If you would like to modify the access privileges for a user at the parent folder level to specify access permission to the other subfolder of the parent folder, you can do so by modifying the access privileges of the user at the parent folder level. For example, if you would like to give the user Mike who has access to the Marketing folder, view access to the other subfolders of the Data folder, see Specifying User Access Privileges for a Subfolder.
