Installing and Uninstalling Products Using the Software AG Installer and Uninstaller or Command Central
You can install products using different methods. The methods can involve Software AG Installer, Command Central, and Platform Manager. Platform Manager is an agent that enables Command Central to install and administer products.
You can use the
Software AG Installer to install all products. The installer automatically installs
Platform Manager with the products so they can be administered from
Command Central. For instructions on installing using the
Software AG Installer, see
Using the Software AG Installer and this guide.
You can use
Command Central to install most products. For the list of products
Command Central can install, see the
Command Central readme.
For detailed instructions on the steps below, see Software AG Command Central Help.
1. Use the Command Central bootstrapper to install Command Central.
2. Install Platform Manager on target installation machines as follows:
If the target installation machine is configured for remote access (typically the case for UNIX systems and for Windows systems equipped with OpenSSH), use
Command Central to install
Platform Manager.
If the target installation machine is not configured for remote access, log on to the target installation machine and use the
Platform Manager bootstrapper to install
Platform Manager.
3. Use Command Central to install products. You can install these products in the same installation directory as Platform Manager.
If you install products using Software AG Installer, you can uninstall them using Command Central, and vice versa. In other words, you can use a different tool to uninstall than you used to install.
