Running Business Processes and Composite Applications : Administering My webMethods Server : My webMethods Server Clustering : Modifying the Cluster Configuration : Using the Universal Messaging Server as a JMS Provider
Using the Universal Messaging Server as a JMS Provider
By default, My webMethods Server uses the server database as a JMS (Java Message Service) provider. However, when you use the database as a JMS provider, the My webMethods Server cluster may not scale horizontally efficiently enough and overall cluster performance may degrade.
To optimize My webMethods Server cluster performance, you can use the webMethods Universal Messaging Server as a JMS provider.
Note:
Depending on the JMS provider that you select, when a node in the cluster loses connection to the JMS provider the following happens:
*If using Universal Messaging as a JMS provider, the node automatically enters maintenance mode. When Universal Messaging becomes available again, the node automatically exits the maintenance mode.
*If using the database as a JMS provider, the node does not enter maintenance mode.
To use the Universal Messaging Server as a JMS provider
1. To navigate to the correct page, do one of the following:
