Inserting a Record in the Supertype Object with a Subtype
You can insert a record into a supertype object regardless of whether there is a subtype entity. Follow the corresponding procedure for the scenario.
Insert a record in the supertype object, which results in a new record in the subtype object when the subtype object exists, but no default value is provided in the supertype indicator column.
* To insert a record in a supertype entity when there is a subtype entity and no default value
1. On the Menu toolbar, click Manage > Manage Data.
2. Navigate to the object that you want to edit and select it.
3. Click Insert > Insert or Insert > Insert Multiple.
OneData displays the supertype and an option to choose which subtype object to update.
4. Select one of the subtypes in the subtype field and click Next.
Note: If the supertype is defined with a default subtype, the subtype will already be populated in the subtype field indicator.
The Insert screen displays a blank row(s) for the supertype object, along with attributes for the selected subtype object.
5. Enter values for the new records and click Save.
OneData inserts the records in the supertype and selected subtype objects.
