Configuring Mandatory Columns
You can configure a column as mandatory to ensure that the column is populated with a value before a record is approved. Mandatory columns in workflow are not related to the Required (Database)? and Required (Application)? column properties in column definition.
* To assign mandatory columns
*To designate a column as mandatory in a data object, do the following:
1. On the Menu toolbar, click Define > Configuration > Workflow > Workflow Rules.
2. Click the Edit icon of the rule associated to the object.
3. Click the required level header (for example, Level 1) hyperlink. This opens the mandatory column assignment Window.
4. Select the object. The object field shows the objects associated to this rule.
5. From the list of Available Columns, select the column to be assigned as the mandatory column and move to the list of Selected Columns using the arrows.
6. Click Save.
*To assign a column as mandatory in a conceptual object, do the following:
1. On the Menu toolbar, click Define > Configuration > Workflow > Mandatory Column Assignment.
2. Click Add New.
3. Select the workflow rule, the level in which to enforce the rule, and the object from the drop downs.
4. From the list of Available Columns, select the column to be assigned as the mandatory column an use the arrows to move it to the list of Selected Columns.
5. Click Save.
