Assigning Workflow Rules to Data Objects
Before you begin this procedure, define a workflow rule as described in Creating Workflow Rules. The same workflow rule can be triggered by multiple objects and for multiple events. Use this procedure to assign a workflow rule to data object.
There are two types of rules you can define for an object: an object-level rule that is triggered every time a change is made to the object and a column-level update that is triggered when a change is made to a column.
If a column-level workflow rule is assigned, changes to the column are not reflected in the Release area until the change is approved by all the approvers assigned to the rule.
* To assign workflow rule at object level
1. On the Menu toolbar, click Define > Objects and navigate to the object you want to modify.
2. Click the object name and select the Workflow Rules tab.
3. In the Object-Level Rule Assignments section, select the workflow rule for each type of data transaction.
Note: For data objects, you can assign a different rule to different data transactions.
4. To add a column-level workflow rule, do the following:
a. Click Add New Column-Level Rule Assignment.
b. In Select workflow rule, select the rule to apply.
c. Select which column changes trigger the workflow rule. Use the arrows to move columns from the Available Columns list to the Selected Columns list. This specifies that whenever a change is made to any column listed in Selected Columns, the workflow rule will be triggered.
d. Click Save.
5. Click Save.
