Screen Convention
OneData adheres to the following navigation and screen layout conventions:
Primary key fields are indicated with two asterisks (**).
Required fields are indicated with a single asterisk (*).
The primary key can be generated by the system, in which case the field is marked as Sequence. There are four types of sequences.
Database Sequence. Implements the next number key generation scheme.
Optional Database Sequence. Uses the key value specified. If no value is entered, the next sequential number is automatically generated. Use a key for this type of sequence.
Contiguous Database Sequence. Fills in gaps in the currently used key sequence.
External Sequence. Uses the sequence generated by an external application.
Foreign key columns use either a
Lookup icon or selectable values list. The column value can only be selected from the existing values, unless Fast Entry is enabled, in which case the data can be entered directly.
The grouping of fields is configurable in
OneData. Groups are collapsible but are only applicable on the single record Insert or Edit screen.
The tab and Shift + Tab functions move to the next or previous field.
In the edit mode, all fields that cannot be updated (like primary keys) or fields on which the user does not have update privileges are marked in gray and cannot be edited.
The icon displays details of the reference value selected.
While editing values, the
Save and
Save & Return options display at the top and bottom of screen. Headers and left columns are frozen to improve usability.
