About Setting Up the Windows RT/Windows 8 Platform

Before you can use Mobile Designer to build applications for the Windows RT or Windows 8 platform, you need to set up your environment. The following table lists tasks you need to perform to set up the environment.

Install the Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8.

Mobile Designer Configuration

Update the Mobile Designer sdk.properties file to provide information about the installed Windows RT and Windows 8 platforms.

Note:

A virtual emulator is installed with Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8.
