Automatically Importing Physical Metadata Using a Remote Connection
To automatically import a physical metadata using a remote database into OneData schema, you must create an import job. The job can be configured to run on a schedule. You must have already defined a connection to a remote database in Administer > System > Connection Manager.
To configure import jobs of metadata
1. On the Menu toolbar, click Data Interchange > Manage Import Job.
2. On the Import Job List screen, click Add Import Job.
3. Define the job properties:
a. Define the Job Name.
b. In Job Type, select Data Dictionary Import.
c. In Notification, set the value as Notify on completion. Select a Recipient.
d. Click Save.
The new job displays in the Import Job List screen.
4. Define a job step for the new job:
a. Click the Edit icon corresponding to the new import job.
b. Click Manage Job Steps.
c. Click Add Import Job Step.
d. Complete the parameters for the job step.
5. In the Available Table List, select RE_TEST and click Save.
The job step displays in the Import Job Steps list.
6. Click the job name in the Navigation toolbar.
7. Schedule the job as follows:
a. Click Job Center.
b. Click Schedule.
c. From the Schedule Job screen, the job can be set to run once or on a schedule. Select Run now, and click Save.
The job displays in the Job Center screen with the status, Active.
8. Click Refresh periodically to verify if the job has processed successfully.
If the Job processes successfully, the status shows Completed Successfully.
9. Click View Log to view the Job result details. On the Job Log screen, click the name in the Download File column to download the log file.
10. To view the new Metadata, navigate to one of the Data Dictionary Physical Model objects.
