Construct a short
value from an item value.
xs:short(item $value) => short
This is a constructor function that takes an item value as argument and
returns a value of type xs:short
. If the argument is a literal,
then the literal must be a valid lexical form of its type.

is a subtype derived
from xs:int
. The lexical representation is the set of numerical
values in the range from -32768 to 32767. If no sign is used,
"+" is assumed.
