Working with the Process Diagram
The Process Diagram panel displays a visual representation of the currently selected process model. This diagram shows all elements of the process as well as the various paths that interconnect the process model steps.
There are three display options for the Process Diagram: Standard, Path Volumes, and Critical Path. These options are explained below:
*Standard - This option shows all elements of the selected model as well as all available paths through the model components.
*Path volumes - This option displays animation, known as swarm lines, that indicates the relative volume between steps. A color gradient is used to identify higher or lower volumes. Volumes are calculated over the applicable time range.
*Critical Path - This option highlights the critical path through the specified process model in yellow. The critical path is path most frequently traversed. It is calculated over the applicable time range.

Click the step to display the step metrics in a new version of the Process Metrics panel. Click the diagram background to dismiss the step metrics data.
The following table describes the elements of the Process Diagram panel.
Component
Description
Zoom control
Plus (+) button
Minus (,) button
1:1 button
Adjusts the size of the process diagram.
Zoom Control
Zooms in to view details of the process. Each click enlarges the size of the process diagram 20 percent.
Zooms out to view a larger portion of the process. Each click reduces the size of the process diagram by 20 percent.
Returns the default size of the process diagram.
Note:
The scroll wheel on the mouse also zooms in and out.
Note:
The process diagram height that you configure is stored for the current user.
Diagram area
Displays a diagram of the whole business process or a portion of the business process.
For information about the components of the business process shown in the diagram area, see Understanding Business Process Models.
For information about the view-specific components of the business process shown in the diagram area, see the following table.
The Process Model diagram provides visual information about a business process model, as described in the following table.
Annotation
Description
Selected Step
selected step
Indicates that the step is selected.
Minimize a subprocess container icon
container minimize
Minimizes a subprocess container. For more information, see Containers.
Container
container icon
Represents a subprocess container that has been minimized. Double-click the icon to expand the container.
Note:
For nested containers, minimizing a container also minimizes all containers nested in it.
Referenced Process
Referenced process
Represents a referenced process. For more information, see Referenced Process.
Swarm Line
swarm line
Swarm Line Colors
swarm line colors
Indicates the volume of the process instances that are executed between the business process steps. The color of the swarm line dots indicates the relative volume of process instances. Use the swarm line colors for volume reference.
