The webMethods EntireX Adapter enables webMethods Integration Server to consume (IS outbound) as well as provide (IS inbound) EntireX RPC services. EntireX supports bidirectional integration with Natural, COBOL, PL/I, C and other applications on z/OS, z/VSE, BS2000/OSD and other platforms. On Linux, UNIX and Windows also Micro Focus COBOL can be integrated with EntireX, bidirectionally.
This document covers the following topics.
Deployment Procedure for Adapter Connections with Adapter
Services
Deployment for an existing adapter connection with adapter services is
now handled by an update procedure rather than by overwriting the connection
and its dependent adapter services. There are two cases: If an IDL program is
new to the connection, it is added and the corresponding adapter services are
created. If an IDL program has been changed, the meta information in the
connection is updated and the dependent adapter services are changed. For IDL
programs that are served by the connection but are not part of the update,
dependent adapter services and the meta information remain unchanged. Note that
this change in the deployment procedure does not extend to listener
connections.
The EntireX Workbench 8.2 SP2 provides you with a new version of the webMethods Integration Server Wrapper with a modified wizard for connections with adapter services.
The setting for the IMS Connect timer (IRM_TIMER
) now
depends on the socket timeout value.
A client ID must be unique. To prevent duplicate IDs it is no longer permitted to specify a client ID.
Package Dependency is Automatically Set to the Current WmEntireX
Package
If a new connection is created by the EntireX Workbench, the
package dependency is set to the current version of the WmEntireX package. This
can also be achieved manually by calling the service
com.softwareag.entirex.wmadapter.Deployment:addPackageDependency
.
The EntireX Adapter supports ACI server connections.
The EntireX Adapter supports connections to ApplinX servers (ApplinX 8.2 is a prerequisite).
Adapter services can dynamically change properties of the connection, for example user ID and password.
Adapter services to the EntireX Broker support conversational RPC.
Enhanced Natural support for connections to Natural RPC servers that use "REDEFINES".
Null value suppression support for adapter services.

Software AG provides support for the operating system versions supported by their respective manufacturers. Generally, when an operating system provider stops supporting a version of an operating system, Software AG will stop supporting that operating system version as of the next system maintenance (SM) level delivered by Software AG. Although it may be technically possible to run a new version of webMethods EntireX Adapter on an old operating system, Software AG cannot continue to support operating system versions that are no longer supported by the system's provider.
Please contact Software AG if the webMethods EntireX Adapter you require is not yet available on a particular platform. This also applies if the platform is not listed in the table above.
