About Indexed Business Data Fields
Indexed business data fields are available as a standard feature with Task Development Version 8.2 and later. Task applications created with earlier versions can be modified to support indexed data field searches. Any task application, regardless of version, can be configured to continue using the standard (full) search provider. For general information about indexed searches, see About Indexed Searches.
Indexed data fields display the text Yes in the Indexed column of the business data display. For more information about working with indexed business data fields, see the following:
*To mark business data fields as indexed fields, see Adding A Business Data Field with the Editor and Modifying Task Business Data Fields.
*To add indexed fields to a task search user interface, see Creating Custom Search Fields from Task Business Data.
*To add indexed fields to a task view or page interface, see Adding Task Business Data Fields to a Page or View.
*For information about how indexed fields appear in the bindings view, see About Task Indexed Search Content Provider Binding Properties.
To configure an existing task type to support indexed fields, see Implementing an Indexed Search Content Provider for Existing Task Types.
To configure a task type to use the full (standard) search mechanism instead of indexed fields, see Implementing a Standard Search Provider for Existing Task Types.
For more information about the behavior of indexed fields in the run-time environment, see About Business Data Fields in the Run-time Environment.
