This is a sub property of tn.query.ignoreWildCardSearchCharacters. As tn.query.ignoreWildCardSearchCharacters is set to false by default, no character is set as the default escape character.

If tn.query.ignoreWildCardSearchCharacters is set to true, ! acts as the default escape character. You can also change the default escape character to any other character.

To ensure reliable database behavior, you must not use escape characters and wild card characters as values for tn.query.wildCardSearchCharacter. Also, do not use any other character which may be part of your search results. For example, in My webMethods Server (*, ?, and \) and in the databases (_ and %) that My webMethods Server supports.
