For information about previous releases of the webMethods FIX Module, see the release notes for those releases, below.
webMethods is pleased to introduce a major release of the webMethods FIX Module, Version 6.0.1. Built on top of the webMethods Integration Platform Version 6.0.1, the webMethods FIX Module enables financial institutions to exchange messages securely through the use of the FIX financial message standard. By enabling FIX implementations to easily make use of the robust and comprehensive feature sets of the webMethods Integration Platform, including business process modeling, human workflow elements, and monitoring, the webMethods FIX Module enables financial institutions to achieve true end-to-end STP of FIX messages.
The webMethods FIX Module supports FIX version 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4 messages.
The webMethods FIX Module is capable of receiving FIX messages and converting them into FIX Integration Server records using the parse operation. Likewise, outgoing FIX messages are automatically created from the data stored in Integration Server records using the format operation. This allows you to easily integrate FIX messaging seamlessly into your back-end infrastructure to achieve STP.
The webMethods FIX Module supports the latest version of Javelin Appia FIX engine, Version 3.0.
Connections to FIX engines can be easily configured through configuration files. This includes configuring the webMethods FIX Module to connect to a Javelin Appia HA cluster.
Ability to easily control Administrative messages (such as logon, heartbeat, etc.) through an easy to use, web based interface.
If the FIX engine (Appia server) goes down, the FIX Module will automatically detect the loss of connection and try to restore the connection at regular intervals. When the Appia server comes back up again, the FIX Module will automatically establish a connection to send/retrieve messages.
The webMethods FIX Module is built with the intelligence to re-send messages if the FIX engine is down when the FIX Module attempts to send messages to the FIX Engine. The retry times and the interval between retries can be easily configured through the webMethods Trading Networks Console.
If the webMethods FIX Module goes down, there can potentially be a mismatch in the number of messages that were sent by Javelin Appia (FIX Engine) and those received by the webMethods FIX Module. Because the webMethods FIX Module keeps track of the Sequence numbers of the messages exchanged per partner, it automatically checks the Appia server when it is brought back up and processes the messages that were not received while it was down.
At any given time, using an HTML based GUI, an administrator can check, on a per partner basis, the Sequence numbers of the last message received by the webMethods FIX Module.
The webMethods FIX Module can now be configured to selectively accept messages that are only of a certain type and/or from specific partners. You set the parameters in the FIX Module configuration file to receive specific Application Messages from specific partners.
The webMethods FIX Module comes with pre-built samples to help you learn quickly how to use the product.
The webMethods FIX Module is built on the proven webMethods eStandards Framework, which allows you to utilize its strengths to build a robust FIX trading network, with the ability to rapidly add new trading partners. The Framework provides excellent transaction, exception, and error logging and query capabilities. You also can maintain transaction logging and audit trails in a relational database to ensure the integrity of all trading partner transactions. Automatic archival of transaction messages, as well as digital signature support, ensure non-repudiation of origin and content.
For a list of all the changes and issues resolved since the last release, see the readme.txt file for the webMethods FIX Module 6.0.1 on the webMethods software download site or in the directories in which you installed the webMethods FIX Module.
