3.0 Usage Notes

-  When webMethods Trading Networks is installed and enabled, the following notes apply:

·         You must create custom internal document types and corresponding routing rules to send and archive FIX messages in Trading Networks.

·         To use the Delivery Features of Trading Networks, such as Number of Retries, Retry Interval, etc., the Delivery Store option must be set to “None”.

·         The incoming FIX messages are archived in the Trading Networks database and the Persistence Store that is specified on the FIX Configuration page. To disable archiving of FIX messages to the Persistence Store, set the value to “None”.

·         If Trading Networks support is selected in the installer, the FIX Routing Engine is automatically disabled and the Trading Networks Processing Rules Engine is used.

-  If a FIX Routing Rule is created from the FIX Routing Configuration page and if the service field in the Routing Rule is blank in spite of it being specified during creation, please check to ensure that the service does exist in the Integration Server. The service has to be reassigned to the Routing Rule once it has been created in the Integration Server.

-  Adding Message IDs to the “doNotPersist” field in the Appia.cnf file will prevent the specified messages from invoking a FIX Routing Rule.

-  The SessionIDs field in the Appia.cnf file should not be empty. It should contain the FIX_IDs of all trading partners from whom you want to receive FIX messages.

4.0 Enhancements and Fixes

Improved Performance
The performance of webMethods FIX Module 6.1 has been optimized significantly and improved over the previous version.

Use of webMethods Trading Networks is Optional
With webMethods FIX Module 6.1, the use of Trading Networks is optional. Users who do not need the functionality offered by Trading Networks, such as the ability to use different FIX versions for different partners and archival of messages, can use webMethods FIX Module 6.1 without Trading Networks.

1-MV2UL (webMethods FIX Module 6.0.1 Fix 1)
webMethods FIX Module reports user status of “Sent_To_Trading_Partner” even if the document delivery has failed. webMethods FIX Module 6.1 reports the correct status with the applicable error message.

1-MXW7U (webMethods FIX Module 6.0.1 Fix 1)
Sequence Number mismatch between the webMethods Integration Server (IS) and Appia server causes the IS to reject new incoming messages. webMethods FIX Module 6.1 provides a “Reset Sequence Number” functionality to reset the IS Sequence Number to 1.

1-MXW9A (webMethods FIX Module 6.0.1 Fix 1)
webMethods FIX Module 6.1 removes the restriction of using custom field names starting with “No” or “LinesOf”.

1-MXWCA (webMethods FIX Module 6.0.1 Fix 1)
When the WmFIXAppia package is reloaded, duplicate socket connections to the Appia server are created.

1-MXWFH (webMethods FIX Module 6.0.1 Fix 1)
When the WmFIXAppia package is reloaded, GSTP link is added.

5.0 Deprecated Items

-  The dependency of webMethods FIX Module on webMethods Trading Networks has been removed to improve performance. The inherent Trading Networks’ features, such as document recognition, routing and archiving are now built into webMethods FIX Module 6.1.

6.0 Globalization

webMethods FIX Module conforms to the international standards of webMethods, which require: operation in any country, locale, or language configuration as listed in the webMethods Installation Guide; support for character encodings; and proper formatting, display, and validation of data (such as number and date formats). These features have been tested in this release and any known issues are listed below.

6.1 Localization and Certification

webMethods FIX Module is provided with an English user interface, messages, and documentation. Language packs containing support for other languages, when available, can be installed at any time using the webMethods Installer. webMethods FIX Module 6.1 supports simultaneous multi-locale operation.

webMethods FIX Module was tested with non-ASCII data using various Unicode and non-Unicode encodings. It was tested in common European and Far East Asian locales and is supported for operation in any locale provided by your operating environment. The tested environments included English locale on an English Windows machine, Japanese locale on an English Windows Machine and Japanese locale on a Japanese Windows machine.

6.2 Configuration

If you expect to display non-English data in your webMethods tools, make sure an appropriate font is installed in your operating environment. If you see hollow boxes or black squares where you expect to see non-English data, modify your JRE font.properties file to reference an appropriate font. For information on modifying your font.properties file, go to Sun's Java website. For instructions, see:
