Support for extracting conversation IDs from EDI document types has been re-added. With this Service Pack applied, the webMethods EDI Module will operate with PRT 6.5.1 to allow EDI documents to participate in process models.
The following are the known problems with, and limitations of, webMethods EDI Module version 6.5:
- Starting in X12 4020, X12 provides a repetition separator to separate repeated occurrences of elements or composites. We do not support the repetition separator in this release.
- For ODETTE standards, we only support document recognition in Trading Networks.
For other known issues and troubleshooting information relating to webMethods EDI Module, see the Knowledge Base on the webMethods Advantage Web site.
The following are usage notes for webMethods EDI Module version 6.5:
- Certain EDI Standards, such as UCS, VICS, and EANCOM, restrict the default standard allowed code values using alternate code sets. Support for alternate code sets was first implemented in webMethods Integration Server 6.1 SP1. If users migrate from webMethods 6.1 to 6.5, schemas installed in 6.1 might be using alternate code sets while schemas installed in 6.5 might not. For consistency, we recommend that users re-generate EDI schemas created in 6.1.
- For WmEDIINT users to continue to sign/verify/encrypt/decrypt SMIME payloads, they will have to either install their certificates in the Integration Server’s Trusted Directory or set the property watt.security.cert.wmChainVerifier.trustByDefault to true in the server.cnf file.
- EDI ID qualifiers for different EDI standards and versions can use the same code. The EDI Module can only support mapping one description to a single EDI ID qualifier. If the default mapping of the EDI ID qualifier is not mapped as the customer intended, the user needs to write a custom service, custom.EDIIDMapping:addEDIIDMapping, to overwrite the mapping. For detailed information on the custom service, please go to the Knowledge Base Samples area on the webMethods Advantage Web site.
For information on enhancements and fixes in webMethods EDI Module 6.5 Service Pack 1, go to the webMethods EDI Module 6.5 Service Pack 1 Enhancements and Fixes document on thewebMethods Bookshelf.
The EDI Module supported PGP-encryption as a part of the VAN connectivity to ICC.net. This support for PGP-encryption is deprecated; it will not be available in future releases of the EDI Module.
This service pack requires the following webMethods components:
- Integration Server 6.5
- Trading Networks 6.5
- Process Runtime 6.5
This service pack requires the following additional fix:
- IS_6-5_Fix1 or higher IS Core fix for 6.5
webMethods EDI Module 6.5 Service Pack 1 is supported on the same platforms as webMethods EDI Module 6.5.
Use webMethods Installer to install Service Pack 1. You must install the Service Pack on the same machine as EDI Module 6.5. If you do not already have EDI Module 6.5 installed, you can install it at the same time as you install the Service Pack.
This section only provides instructions that pertain to installing the Service Pack. For complete instructions on using the webMethods Installer, see the webMethods Installation Guide.
Important! If you want to retain the ability to remove Service Pack 1 and return the EDI Module to its pre-upgrade condition, you need to note which fixes have been applied to the EDI Module. When you uninstall Service Pack 1, the EDI Module files are restored to their EDI Module 6.5 GA state. After uninstalling, you will need to reapply each fix that you had applied to EDI Module 6.5 before you installed Service Pack 1.
If you already have Integration Server 6.5 installed and it is running, shut it down before installing the Service Pack.
1. If you already have webMethods Installer 6.5, start the Installer. If not, download the webMethods Installer from the webMethods Advantage Web site and start the Installer.
2. During the install process, the Installer prompts you for an installation directory. If you already have Integration Server 6.5 and EDI Module 6.5 installed on the machine, select your existing webMethods installation directory. If you are installing the Service Pack and Integration Server at the same time, specify an installation directory for webMethods software (the default is webMethods6).
3. In the component selection list, navigate to the EDI list. Each EDI component has an option to install a service pack. Select the service packs for the components you wish to install: EDI Module, EDI for Trading Networks and/or EDIINT.
4. Finish installing any other webMethods components that you wish to install. For more information, see the webMethods Install Guide.
5. Start Integration Server.
The webMethods EDI Module Version 6.5 Service Pack 1 has not yet been tested for conformance with the internationalization standards of webMethods. This internal certification is planned for a future release. You might experience difficulty working with this product in non-English operating environments. Operation of this product outside the U.S. English locale is not supported, but should be reliable.
The components on which the EDI Module is dependent (webMethods Trading Networks, webMethods Integration Server, and webMethods Developer) have been certified. Users should refer to the Globalization section of those products' readme files for information on the limitations of those products before using the EDI Module in an international environment.
This service pack does not require an updated language pack.
- It can be installed on products with language pack(s) installed.
- Language packs can be installed on a product that has this service pack installed.
- This service pack contains new messages and these messages will appear in English, even on systems with installed language packs, until webMethods makes an updated language pack available and it is installed.
