webMethods Tuxedo Adapter

Release Notes

webMethods Tuxedo Adapter Version 6.0

The webMethods Tuxedo Adapter is an add-on to the webMethods Integration Server that enables you to exchange data between a webMethods Integration Server and the Tuxedo server via the BEA Jolt server. The Tuxedo Adapter provides seamless and real-time communication with Tuxedo. The Tuxedo Adapter provides user interfaces that enable you to configure and manage adapter connections and adapter services. The adapter services are linked to specific Tuxedo services and can be used on their own or included in flows built to implement business processes.

Using the functionality provided by the adapter, a client can connect to the Jolt server and invoke Tuxedo services. For example, you can use the Tuxedo Adapter to create a service that updates account information from a Tuxedo application.

Template-Based Integration

Tuxedo Adapter services allow you to connect to the Jolt server and initiate services on the Tuxedo server from the Integration Server. The Tuxedo Adapter provides a single adapter service template for synchronously invoking services in Tuxedo applications via the BEA Jolt interface. This user-interface-based template makes it easy to develop adapter services to interact with Tuxedo applications. The adapter service template contains all the code necessary for interacting with the Jolt server but without the data specifications. You provide these specifications when you configure a new adapter service.

Connectivity to BEA Jolt Servers and Tuxedo Servers

The Tuxedo Adapter enables you to establish and manage connections to your Jolt server, which in turn connects to your Tuxedo server. Connections, connection pools, and sessions are fully managed by the adapter. Through these connections, you can create and run your Tuxedo integrations.

Dynamically Look Up Tuxedo Services

To simplify the development of your integrations, the Tuxedo Adapter introspects the Tuxedo server and then dynamically provides a list of services associated with the Tuxedo application hosted on a Tuxedo server. When defining an adapter service, you simply select the Tuxedo service you want the adapter service to call and the adapter automatically defines the adapter's input and output signatures based on the Tuxedo service's signature, as defined in the Jolt repository.

Platform Support

The webMethods Tuxedo Adapter supports Tuxedo 7.1 through 8.x, and requires the BEA Jolt server. For a complete listing of the versions of Tuxedo and of webMethods Integration Server with which the adapter works, see the webMethods Tuxedo Adapter Installation Guide 6.0.
