Software AG is pleased to
announce the latest release of webMethods Salesforce.com Adapter. With this new
release, Software AG makes your Salesforce.com integration faster by providing
flexibility and ease of use in designing and maintaining your Salesforce.com
integrations. Changes to this release include:
webMethods Salesforce.com Adapter
(Salesforce.com Adapter) is a webMethods Integration Server adapter for
integrating the webMethods Integration platform with your Salesforce.com
application. Using Salesforce.com Adapter, you can create connections to your
Salesforce.com application and create adapter services that perform operations
on your Salesforce.com data.
The adapter services you
create using Salesforce.com Adapter can retrieve data from, and write data to,
your Salesforce.com application. You can use Integration Server flow services
or java services to call adapter services to interact with Salesforce.com. The
adapter services use the Salesforce.com Partner WSDL version 13 to invoke
operations on Salesforce.com. For example, you might use the Salesforce.com
Adapter to receive new information about a sales contact from a webMethods
Integration Server client, and then update a Contact sObject
record in your Salesforce.com application.
Salesforce.com Adapter also
helps Salesforce.com applications to interact with webMethods applications. To
do this, you can use either adapter polling notifications or the workflow rules
in Salesforce.com to send the updates to webMethods applications.
Salesforce.com Adapter
enables you to establish and manage connections to your Salesforce.com
application. Salesforce.com connections, connections pools, and sessions are
fully managed by the adapter. Through these connections you can create and run
your Salesforce.com integrations.
When you design your
integrations, you use the adapter and its webMethods Developer screens to view sObjects that reside on Salesforce.com and the fields and datatypes of sObjects. From the
list of sObjects and fields you select the one you
want to perform operations on.
Salesforce.com Adapter
provides service templates for interactions with the Salesforce.com sObjects. This makes it easy to develop adapter services to
interact with your Salesforce.com application.
Service templates represent
specific tasks for doing work with Salesforce.com. For example, a
Salesforce.com Adapter service that creates data in Salesforce.com is based on
the Create service template included with the adapter. You can create specific
adapter services using the templates and invoke them from your integration
flows.
Salesforce.com Adapter
provides the ability to generate adapter services that implement the following
Force.com APIs:
Adapter
Service Template
|
|
Query |
Executes the query and queryMore APIs. |
Create |
Executes the create API. |
Update |
Executes the update API. |
Delete |
Executes the delete API. |
Upsert |
Executes the upsert API. |
Retrieve |
Executes the retrieve API
to retrieve sObject records based on IDs. |
Utility Operation |
Invokes one of the
following Salesforce.com utilities: getServerTimestamp,
get UserInfo, resetPassword,
sendEmail, and setPassword.
|
You can perform Salesforce.com-to-webMethods
operations using either the adapter's polling notifications or the workflow
rule configurations available in your Salesforce.com application. Adapter
notifications poll Salesforce.com for any recently updated or deleted records.
Notifications are template-based, enabling you to configure the polling
interval and to fetch multiple updated/deleted records at a time.
Another way to achieve
Salesforce.com-to-webMethods operations is through workflow rules in
Salesforce.com. You can configure workflow rules to watch for specific field or
record changes that trigger automatic sending of an outbound message.
Salesforce.com will send SOAP messages over HTTP(S) to a designated endpoint
when triggered by a workflow rule. The designated endpoints could be flow
services created in the Integration Server. To ensure security, it is
recommended to use Reverse HTTP Gateway Servers to allow Integration Servers to
accept inbound communications from Salesforce.com.
For the most up to date
information about the software and operating systems that the adapter supports,
see the webMethods Adapters System Requirements document, available from
the webMethods area of the Software AG Documentation Web site (http://documentation.softwareag.com/).
This document applies to
webMethods Salesforce.com Adapter Version 7.1 and to all subsequent releases.
