webMethods AS/400 Adapter 6.0.1 Release Notes

The webMethods AS/400 Adapter is an add-on to the webMethods Integration Server that enables you to exchange data with IBM AS/400 servers through the use of the IBM ToolBox for Java or JTOpen. The adapter provides seamless and real-time communication with the AS/400 server. Using the AS/400 Adapter, webMethods clients can create and run services that execute commands and programs, and read and write data from data queues on an AS/400 server.

Connectivity to AS/400 Systems

Using functionality provided by the classes in the IBM ToolBox for Java or JTOpen, the AS/400 Adapter enables the Integration Server to connect to, and perform operations on, an AS/400 server. AS/400 connections and connection pools are fully managed by the adapter. Through these connections you can create and run your AS/400 integrations.

Template-Based Integrations

The AS/400 Adapter provides templates that enable you to quickly configure the following components:

Built-In Adapter Services and Samples

The AS/400 Adapter provides built-in services that can be used to create and submit requests to the AS/400 servers, perform data conversions, call an iSeries command or program, and work with data queues. A set of sample services are also provided with the adapter that show how the built-in services can be used in your AS/400 integrations.

Platform Support

Because the AS/400 Adapter depends on the classes supplied by the IBM ToolBox for Java or JTOpen (the open source version of the IBM ToolBox for Java), the versions of those programs determine which iSeries or AS/400 versions the adapter supports. For information about which versions of AS/400 are supported by the IBM Toolbox for Java or JTOpen, see the associated readme file for these programs.

For a complete list of the software and hardware that the adapter requires, see the webMethods AS/400 Adapter Installation and User's Guide 6.0.1.
