Universal Messaging supports the concept of plugins that actively process client requests made to nhp and nhps interfaces. There available plugins are:
File (Provides behavior similar to a web server)
XML (Browse resources and events in XML)
Proxy Passthrough (Enable http/s requests for specific URLs to be forwarded to another host:port)
