These Release Notes provide an overview on all changes for Entire System Server 3.8.1. The following topics are covered:
Natural add-on products are no longer delivered for the z/VSE and BS2000 operating systems. Software AG makes an exception for BS2000 customers who are using the ESM Adapter. For that reason, this documentation and its respective software still mention the deprecated operating systems.
Following the principles of the "Adabas and Natural 2050+" strategy, your rehosting project is a high priority to Software AG. Contact your local Software AG team for assistance in planning and executing your rehosting from the z/VSE and BS2000 operating systems to an alternative operating system. IBM no longer supports JES3 with z/OS 3.1. z/OS 2.5 is the last version for which IBM provides support. IBM transferred JES3 to Phoenix. Consequently, we are freezing the coding for JES3. Note that JES3 can still be used. However, we no longer support possible changes or fix possible bugs.

Licence Handling for Entire System Server is now compliant with Software GmbH's company-wide license policy.

Before you can install Entire System Server, the following Software GmbH products must already be installed at your site:
Natural version 9.2 or above;
Adabas version 8.5.4 or above;
Entire System Server Interface (provided with Natural);
Natural ISPF Version 9.2 or above (optional);
Predict Version 8.6.1 or above (optional).
Entire System Server Services are available in any Natural environment that runs z/OS Version 2.5 or above.
Software GmbH provides Entire System Server support for the operating system versions supported by their respective manufacturers. Generally, when an operating system provider stops supporting a version of an operating system, Software AG will stop supporting that operating system version.
Although it may be technically possible to run a new version of Entire System Server on an old operating system, Software GmbH cannot continue to support operating system versions that are no longer supported by the system's provider.

View RECEIVE-EMAIL and its associated functionality will be deprecated with the next release, as it does not comply with modern security standards such as OAuth 2.0 and Application-Layer Transport Security (AT-TLS).
