Natural for Visual Studio Code 1.2.1 | The Natural Properties Manager

The Natural Properties Manager
The Natural Properties Manager provides a dedicated view for maintaining the project-specific settings used by the extension. It helps to keep the configuration of a Natural project consistent across the project properties file, the launch configuration, and the private mode settings.
You can use the Natural Properties Manager to review or modify the active launch, the deployment file name, the private mode settings, and many other parameters of the selected Natural project.
To adapt the project settings, select the Natural project in the Explorer and choose Natural Properties Manager from the context menu.
Sections of the Properties Manager
The left-hand side lists the project sections, the panel next to it shows the settings of the selected section.
The available sections depend on the project. For example, security-related sections are only available for projects that use Natural Security.
Section
Meaning
Environment
The environment in which the project runs. including the launch it uses (with the maintain launches link for creating or modifying launches, see Maintaining Launches), whether the project runs in shared or private mode and its private libraries, and the names of the configuration files (deploy.xml and the cache properties file).
StepLibs
The steplibs of the project, shown as a subtree below Environment.
Connection
The Natural Development Server (NDV) used by the project, including the host name, port, session parameters, environment name, and whether the server uses Natural Security.
Security Profiles
Only for a project which uses Natural Security: the library profiles of the project, each with its own steplibs and settings.
Editor
Settings of the source editor, for example, whether line numbers inside constants are renumbered, and the layout orientation.
Parser
How source code is parsed and checked, including the Natural mode assumed by the compiler, limits such as line size, page size, and precision, and the checks performed by the parser.
Regional Settings
Country- and language-specific settings, including the user language, date format, code page, decimal and thousands separators, input assign and delimiter characters, and settings for right-to-left languages.
General
General project settings, including the handling of the legacy internal data area format, the grouping of new objects by object type, and the deletion of error messages on the server.
Naming Rules
The characters that can be used in names, including identifiers, object names, DDM names, and library names, as well as special characters (such as the character used to mark a non-database field).
AIV Variable
The application-independent variables that are defined for the project.
Builder
The order in which object types are built.
Logging
Whether a builder history log file is written, where it is stored, and the level of detail it contains.
Writing Back the Settings
Changes are automatically written to the project's .natural file.
If the steplib settings in the .natural file and deploy.xml are no longer consistent, a Synchronize button appears in the header of the view. Hovering over the Synchronize button displays the inconsistencies, which are resolved when you choose this button.
Note:
Settings that apply to the entire workspace are not maintained in the Natural Properties Manager. They are maintained through the Natural preferences; see Preparing the Workspace. The launches are stored in .vscode/launch.json; see Maintaining Launches.
