Command List

This section lists the following:

Super Natural commands are language-dependent!

This appendix is available online when you mark a command in the Command List window with the cursor position and press PF1.

A

A BACKWARD

Pages one page backwards in section A of the Layout Editor.

A BOTTOM

Pages to last page in section A of the Layout Editor.

A DELIMITER

Invokes delimiter information in section A of the Layout Editor.

A FORWARD

Pages one page forwards.

A LEFT

Displays data to the left of your present screen contents if you have more columns in a report than you can see at one time.

A LINE line-number

Pages to the line number specified in section A of the Layout Editor.

A RIGHT

Displays data to the right of your present screen contents if you have more columns in a report than you can see at one time.

A SCAN field-name

Pages to the field named (only if section A is displaying transaction fields)

A TOP

Pages to first page.

A TRANSACTION

Invokes transaction field information in section A of the Layout Editor.

ADD object-type object-name

Invokes the appropriate add object window with the new object name already entered.

Use with the following object types:

If the list object screen for the type of object you want to add is displayed, you need not specify object type.

ALL

Selects all the fields contained in the file(s) you are using and enters them in the Fieldname column of the Worksheet.

APPLICATION

Invokes the List Application screen.

ARRAY

Invokes the Array Editing window from the command column in the Layout Field List screen.

B

B BACKWARD

Pages one page backwards in section B of the Layout Editor.

B BOTTOM

Pages to last page.

B DELIMITER

Invokes delimiter information in section B of the Layout Editor.

B FORWARD

Pages one page forwards in section B of the Layout Editor.

B LEFT

Displays data to the left of your present screen contents in section B of the Layout Editor if you have more columns in a report than you can see at one time.

B LINE line-number

Pages to the line number specified in section B of the Layout Editor.

B RIGHT

Displays data to the right of your present screen contents in section B of the Layout Editor if you have more columns in a report than you can see at one time.

B SCAN field-name

Pages to the field named (only if section B is displaying transaction fields)

B TOP

Pages to first page in section B of the Layout Editor.

B TRANSACTION

Invokes transaction field information in section B of the Layout Editor.

BACKWARD (-)

Pages one page backwards.

BOTTOM (++)

Pages to last page.

C

CALCULATION

Invokes the Calculation Editor.

CANCEL

The CANCEL command interrupts the current function without saving. If a window is displayed, the CANCEL command closes it and if a screen is displayed, the CANCEL command invokes the previous screen.

Note:
The Confirmation window does not appear and entries made since you last saved or pressed Enter are cancelled!

CHECK

Checks your entries in the Super Natural editors and pinpoints errors. You can correct the error, ignore it and continue working using CANCEL or leave the editor using EXIT.

CHECKLIST (CHLST)

Invokes the Checklist window.

COMMANDS

Invokes the Command List window.

CONNECT

Invokes the CON-NECT Menu.

CONTINUE

Invokes a window which tells you what you can do next.

COPY object-type object-name [target-name] [target-library]

Copies the named object within a library or to another library. Use with the following object types:

Note:
If the list object screen for the type of object you want to copy is displayed, you need not specify object type.

COUNT

Counts the number of records found by the present transaction but does not display the resulting data.

Note:
The COUNT command disregards lookup files.

D

DELETE

Deletes edit lines in all editors (not the Layout Editor).

DELETE object-type object-name

Deletes the named object. Use with the following object types:

If the list object screen for the type of object you want to delete is displayed, you need not specify object type.

DELETE ALL

Deletes all elements in the layout you are working on.

DELETE element-name

Deletes the named element.

DISPLAY ALL

Displays all elements in the layout you are working on.

DISPLAY element-name

Invokes the Display Layout Element screen displaying the element specified.

E

EDIT editor-direct-command

The command EDIT must precede every editor direct command (not in the Layout Editor).

EDIT ALL

Invokes the Layout Editor with all elements in the editor area.

EDIT element-name

Invokes the Layout Editor with the named element in the editor area.

EXECUTE object-type object-name

Executes the object named. Use with the following object types:

If you want to run an existing transaction without modifying it, it is most efficient to use the EXECUTE command from the List Transactions screen. This is because when you issue the EXECUTE command, Super Natural uses the transaction as it was when the transaction was last run or saved. When you run a transaction using the RUN command, Super Natural completely recreates the transaction. You cannot execute a transaction you have left using the KEEP command.

Note:
for the Administrator: When you execute a transaction, the Natural program generated last time the transaction was run or saved is executed. The program is not recataloged.

Note:
If the list object screen for the type of object you want to execute is displayed, you need not specify object type.

EXIT

Ends the function you are performing and saves your modifications.

If you leave a transaction using the EXIT command, a window asks you if you want to save and exit, keep and exit, exit without keeping or saving or resume the current function.

F

FIELDS

Invokes the Field Selection List window.

FIELDS element-name

Invokes the Layout Field List screen for the element you are working with.

FIELDS ALL

Invokes the Layout Field List screen for all the elements in the layout you are working with.

FLIP

Displays the twelve PF keys not currently on view.

For example, if the keys PF1 to PF12 are displayed, the FLIP command displays the keys PF12 to PF24.

Whichever twelve keys are displayed, you can still use any of the other twelve keys which has a function allocated to it.

Note:
This command does not apply if you are using the SAA PF key format.

FORWARD (+)

Pages one page forwards.

FULL

Invokes the Layout Editor with full screen editor area.

GENERATE PROTOTYPE

Generates a prototype program from the transaction you are working on. You cannot generate a prototype program from a transaction which is not finished.

GENERATE RPC

Generates an RPC Service from the transaction you are working on. You cannot generate an RPC Service from a transaction which is not finished.

HELP

Invokes the Super Natural help system.

I

INCLUDE

Invokes the Include Files window where you can do the following:

INFO object object-name

Supplies information on named object. Use with the following object types:

K

KEEP

Keeps any transaction even if it contains errors.

Note:
for the Administrator: When you keep a transaction, the commentary lines (transaction specification) for a Natural program are generated and saved but the Natural program for the transaction itself is not generated. If you keep a transaction which has already been run or saved, the program generated by the run or save is deleted and only the commentary lines are kept.

L

LAYOUT

Invokes the Layout Editor which displays either the default layout for the current transaction or a layout you have already edited.

LEFT (<)

Displays data to the left of your present screen contents if you have more columns in a report than you can see at one time.

LINE line-number

Scrolls to the line number specified in the Layout Editor and Display Element screen.

LOCK

Lock user exits and selection lines in the Selection Editor so that they may not be modified. You can add further selection criteria but you may not use the logical operator OR.

LOGIC

Invokes the Logical Conditions Editor.

M

MAINTAIN

Invokes the Super Natural Maintenance Menu.

MENU

Invokes the Menu from any point in Super Natural. Processing is interrupted and your changes are not saved.

MODES

Invokes the Modify Modes for Reporting or the Modify Modes for Data Maintenance window depending on the type of transaction you are creating or modifying.

Note:
The modifications you make in these windows are only valid for the current transaction. See PROFILE.

MODIFY object-type object-name

Invokes the Modify object function. Use with the following object types:

If the list object screen for the type of object you want to modify is displayed, you need not specify object type.

NEXT

Takes you to the next step you have selected in the Checklist window. If you have selected no further function, the Checklist window appears.

NOSEQUENCE

Removes all numbers from the Sequence column in the Worksheet.

NOTEPAD

Invokes the Super Natural notepad.

OPTIONS

Invokes the Transaction Options window. See PROFILE.

Note:
The modifications you make in this and the following windows are only valid for the current transaction.

OVERVIEW

Invokes the Layout Overview screen from the Display Layout Element screen, Layout Editor and Layout Field List screens.

P

POSITION

Displays the report with the column at the cursor position on the left-hand side of the report display.

PRINT

Note:
If you want to print a whole report, you can also use Report Destination PRINTER.

PROFILE

Invokes the Modify Profile screen.

Note:
The modifications you make in this screen are valid for all new transactions.

PROTOTYPE

Invokes the List Prototype screen.

R

REFRESH

Deletes the lines in the current editor and recalls the lines which were present (if any) when the transaction was last saved.

RELEASE

All fields not currently in use in a transaction are removed from the source area and are no longer available. For example, if you invoke the Field List window from an editor or the Worksheet, only the fields in use when you issued the RELEASE command are listed. If you are using very large files, you can use this command to avoid problems with temporary memory capacity (buffer overflow).

RETRIEVE USERFILE userfile-name

Retrieves the named user file which has been deleted logically but not physically. The user file can be retrieved until the administrator or a system routine deletes it.

Note:
If you are in the Userfile List screen, you need not specify object type.

RIGHT (>)

Displays data to the right of your present screen contents if you have more columns in a report than you can see at one time.

RUN

Runs a transaction you are modifying or creating. You cannot run a transaction which is not finished or still has errors in it.

Note:
For the Administrator:
When you run a transaction, a Natural program is generated, cataloged and executed.

SAVE

If you have completed a transaction but do not want to see the results immediately, you can save it. You cannot save a transaction which still has errors in it. You can execute a transaction using the EXECUTE command when it has been saved.

For the Administrator:
When you save a transaction, a Natural program is generated and cataloged but not executed.

SCAN field-name

Pages to the field named in the section of the Layout Editor displaying transaction fields.

SCAN text-string

Pages to the specified text string in the show area, display area and editor area.

SECTION

Invokes the Layout Editor with information sections.

SELECTION

Invokes the Selection Editor, PC file editor or work file editor depending on the selection mode setting.

SEQUENCE

Gives each field entered in the Fieldname column a number from 1 to 99 in the Sequence column. The first 99 fields are numbered in ascending order from the top of the Worksheet to the bottom of the last page.

SETTINGS

Invokes the Layout Settings window.

SHOW BACKWARD

Pages one page backwards in the show area of the Layout editor.

SHOW BOTTOM

Pages to last page of the element in show area of the Layout Editor.

SHOW element-name

Invokes the show area of the Layout Editor showing the element named.

SHOW FORWARD

Pages one page forwards in the show area of the Layout Editor.

SHOW LEFT

Displays data to the left of your present screen contents if you have more columns in a report than you can see at one time in the show area of the Layout Editor.

SHOW LINE line-number

Pages to the specified line number specified in the show area of the Layout Editor.

SHOW NAME group-element-name

Invokes a window which gives you the following information on the control field for the group element specified:

SHOW RIGHT

Displays data to the right of your present screen contents if you have more columns in a report than you can see at one time in the show area of the Layout Editor.

SHOW SCAN text-string

Pages to the specified text string in the show area of the Layout Editor.

SHOW TOP

Pages to first page of the element in show area of the Layout Editor.

SORT

Sorts the elements in the edit area of the Layout Editor into the following order:

TABLES

Invokes the List DB2 Tables screen.

TABULAR

Invokes the Tabular Report Specification screen when you are adding a report of report type TABLE.

TECH

Invokes the Technical Information window.

TEST

Shows how the report data would be presented if you ran the transaction you are working on using Report Destination SCREEN, PRINTER, CON-NECT or EDITOR. The test report is filled with dummy data.

TOP (- -)

Pages to first page.

TRANSACTION

Invokes the Transaction List screen.

Invokes transaction field information in the section of the Layout Editor in which the cursor is positioned.

TYPE

Moves the Type column to the other side of the Layout Editor.

USERFILE
