In addition to the Natural DML statements, Natural also provides SQL statements for use in Natural programs so that SQL can be used directly.
The following SQL statements are available:

| SELECT
| UPDATE
Note:
Concerning the portability of Natural applications, please bear in
mind that the Natural SQL statements can only be used for SQL-compliant
database systems, whereas Natural DML statements, such as FIND
or
READ
, can be used for all database systems supported by
Natural.

The so-called "Flexible SQL", which is a further possibility of issuing SQL statements, enables you to use arbitrary SQL syntax.
