Importing with the Desktop OLE DB/ODBC Adapter
You can use CONNX to access data in a variety of OLE DB or ODBC data sources and move it from one source to another.
*To import with the desktop OLE DB or ODBC adapter:
1. Go to the main online CONNX Data Dictionary Manager page.
You can select CONNX Data Dictionary from the home page or the tile menu on the top right.
2. Browse to the CDD you want to import in and open it.
3. Click the Import button.
4. In the Import Type window, select Desktop OLEDB/ODBC Adapter from the dropdown menu and click OK.
5. In the Connection Information step, select the data provider you want to use.
*Click the OLEDB Provider radio button and provide the following to use the OLEDB adapter:
*Select a data provider from the Provider Name dropdown menu.
*Enter a data source name in the Data Source field.
*Enter a username for the database in the Username field.
*Enter a password for the database in the Password field.
*Enter any extended properties you want to use in the Extended Properties field. Click Next when you are done.
*Click the ODBC Provider radio button and provide the following to use the ODBC adapter:
*Select a DSN Name from the dropdown menu.
*Enter a username for the database in the Username field.
*Enter a password for the database in the Password field. Click Next when you are done.
6. In the Import Properties step, select a catalog from the dropdown menu and any import options you want:
*Turn the Include System Tables option on to include system tables in the import procedure.
*Turn the Get Statistics option on to identify table sizes. This is used by the CONNX query optimization.
7. In the Table Selection step, mark the tables you want to import in the Available Table(s) pane and press the arrow pointing to the right to move them to the Selected Table(s) pane.
You can use the search field in the Available Table(s) pane to filter the list of tables.
You can mark all tables in a pane by clicking the checkmark next to the Available Table(s) or Selected Table(s) entry.
You can move tables back from the Selected Table(s) pane by marking the tables and clicking the arrow pointing to the left.
8. Click Done to finish the import procedure.
