Because C-ISAM, DISAM, and Micro Focus do not contain information (metadata) on how fields are stored within a record, it is necessary to define the record layout for each C-ISAM, DISAM, or Micro Focus file. CONNX requires the user to create a specification file that contains these definitions. The specification file can be created with any editor, but must be located on the machine where the C-ISAM, DISAM, or Micro Focus files are located.
