New Features

This section provides an overview of new features for Adabas Fastpath Version 8.6.1.

License File Requirements

Starting with version 8.6 SP1, Adabas Fastpath requires a license.

The Adabas Fastpath license must be made available in the Adabas System Coordinator.

Note
If the Adabas Fastpath is not available or is erroneous, client jobs configured to use Adabas Fastpath daemon services will be unable to connect to the Asynchronous Buffer Manager, and optimization of commands will not occur. An AFP-0067-10 message will be issued.

For further information regarding the new license requirements, refer to the section License.

For installation information regarding the new license requirements, refer to the section Installation Procedure Steps.

For general information on Adabas licensing procedures, license check software, and license files, refer to the Mainframe Product Licensing topic in the Adabas for Mainframes documentation.

Support for Adabas Auditing

Adabas Auditing (ALA) allows customers to track who is accessing, reading and changing data in an Adabas database.

Adabas Fastpath direct-access optimization enables Adabas command queries to be satisfied by the client without the need for database access. Therefore, when such optimization is present, a database may not see every access command.

With Adabas Fastpath 8.6.1, the Fastpath Asynchronous Buffer Manager gathers all appropriate audit data for every direct-access optimized command and forwards them to the Audit Server.

Refer to Using Adabas Fastpath with Adabas Auditing in the Configuration section for more information.

Adabas Fastpath support for Adabas Auditing is only available in conjunction with:

  • Adabas System Coordinator 8.6 SP1 (and above)

  • Adabas Auditing 2.3 SP2 (and above)
