Operator Commands

Operator commands for the Fastpath manager must be passed through the Adabas System Coordinator daemon with an "AFP" prefix, as shown below. The following commands are available through the MVS Modify (F) command.

Command Description
AFP RESTART

Performs an orderly shutdown immediately followed by buffer initialization. (See Notes)

AFP NEWCOPY

Performs an orderly shutdown, load a new copy of the Fastpath nucleus for all connected Fastpath components, and initialize the buffer. (See Notes)

Warning
In multisystem implementations check whether all COR daemons in the group that are expected to be active are active, before issuing an AFP RESTART or NEWCOPY. If direct-access optimization has been automatically disabled due to a system failure or COR daemon failure, this action will override it, which could lead to data integrity problems if the AFP RESTART/NEWCOPY is issued before all necessary daemons are active.

AFP SNAP Takes a snap dump of the Fastpath buffer. Operation is not terminated. (See Notes)

Notes:

  1. You can achieve RESTART, NEWCOPY, and SNAP using Adabas Fastpath Online administration (see SYSAFP Special Services) without needing to enter an operator command.
  2. Multi-task clients (such as RPC and NDV servers) are not compatible with the dynamic NEWCOPY. Such jobs should be stopped before issuing the Fastpath operator command and restarted after the action has completed.
Command Description

AFP STAT
AFP DSTAT

Displays general performance statistics.

AFP DXCFMD
AFP DXCFMD,ALL

Displays the files that are registered for Adabas Fastpath distributed update event notifications and have received at least 100 notifications. The output is limited to 100 files. Specify the ALL option to bypass this limit.

AFP AUDITING=NO
AFP AUDITING=YES

Dynamically stops or restarts Auditing activity in the Adabas Fastpath Buffer Manager. The Adabas System Coordinator must have initially started with the COR Daemon runtime parameter AFP AUDITING=YES for these operator commands to take effect.

AFP DAUDPARM

[,DBID=nnnnn]
[,FILE=nnnnn]

Displays the file auditing parameters and activity status in use by the Fastpath Buffer Manager. This information is obtained from the ADAANP auditing parameters for each Adabas nucleus that has files defined to Fastpath for direct-access optimization.

A sample file display is shown below:

AFP-0074-04 17004 DBID 17099 File 21 auditing definitions:

For an explanation of these parameters, refer to the Adabas Auditing documentation, section Adabas Nucleus Auditing Parameters (ADAANP).

The amount of information displayed can be reduced using the optional DBID= and FILE= parameters.

For example:

AFP DAUDPARM,DBID=17099 will only display auditing parameters relating to files in database 17099.

AFP DAUDPARM,DBID=17099,FILE=21 will only display auditing parameters relating to file 21 in database 17099.

AFP DAUDSTAT

[,DBID=nnnnn]
[,FILE=nnnnn]

Displays the Fastpath Buffer Manager auditing statistics.

Information provided includes auditing-related memory usage statistics for the Audit Pool and the Fastpath Buffer, and the number of auditing events pending and completed.
