Infrastructural Considerations
Adabas Cluster is intended for installation on virtual machines and deployment in contemporary Docker containers.
The Cluster can operate from on-premises data centers, but also from cloud-based hyperscalers such as Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.
Adabas instances require storage solutions with high performance. In particular, the write performance should offer minimal latency.
All instances involved should have very good performing network connections. This is to ensure that transfer of Initial State and Delta State can rely on a very high throughput.
Given the fact that any transaction on the database is only committed successfully after having been certified across all instances via the network, it becomes clear that the latency between all instances determines the overall performance of the cluster.
Adabas Cluster functionality is delivered with the Adabas package and can be activated via an additional license file for Linux x86-64 based operating systems.
For more information about system requirements, see Adabas for Linux and Cloud > Installation on Linux > System Requirements.
