New, Modified and Dropped Features

This document describes the new and modified features in Adabas Version 7.2

New Features

Adabas Cluster for Linux

The utilities ADABCK and ADAMUP are now fully supported in the cluster environment.

Adabas Encryption for Linux

  • Starting with this version, WORK container files are encrypted when the database encryption is active.

  • The Key Management System of the Azure Cloud is now supported by Adabas Encryption.

Adabas RESTful Server

  • With this version, only users with administrator rights can start or stop the database. A new function to add or remove user administration rights has been added and a manual modification to the administration.xml file is no longer required.

  • If the ADADATADIR location changes after using the change_adadatadir script, the new location must be updated for use with the REST service.

Modified Features

  • Reading by ISN can now be done in descending order.

  • Support of the descriptor option ‘XI’. The ‘XI’ option is used for unique descriptors in periodic groups to exclude the occurrence (index) number from the definition of uniqueness.

  • The RBAC system file and initial data are no longer loaded from a backup file to avoid conflicts with block sizes of the database containers.
