Scenario 9: JDBC Web Services and Tomcat
This scenario shows both a JDBC web service application using Tomcat on Solaris and the JDBC/RCI server on Solaris connecting to DB2 on AIX and IMS on MVS.
In this scenario an internet browser has a remote connection to Tomcat. Tomcat uses a Java web service to have a direct connection to the JDBC Client. The Client has a direct connection to the CONNX JDBC/RCI Server. The server directly connects to the CONNX Core. The Core has a direct connection to the CDD and remote connections to the CONNX Server, the Db2, and the CONNX License server.
In this example, Tomcat, a popular open-source implementation from Apache, is used as a Web Container.
