Installing Adabas Add-ons (including zIIP)

The installation of the following add-on products can be done alongside an Adabas installation as the Adabas installation package includes a set of sub-products or add-ons:

  • Adabas for zIIP (AZP)

  • Adabas Caching Facility (ACF)

  • Adabas Delta Save Facility (ADE)

  • Adabas Cluster Services (ALS)

  • Adabas Parallel Services (ASM)

  • Adabas Online System (AOS)

In order to be able to use the sub-products they must be licensed and the corresponding product license file must be provided with the nucleus or utility execution.

This document covers the following topics:

License

An Adabas nucleus that is to run with the Adabas for zIIP, Adabas Caching Facility, Adabas Delta Save Facility, Adabas Cluster Services, Adabas Parallel Services or Adabas Online System add-on product requires an associated license file in addition to the Adabas license file. If the license is not provided or erroneous, the nucleus will run with the add-on deactivated.

An add-on license can be transferred to the mainframe in the same way as the Adabas license. The license can be made available to the nucleus as a load module with the name DDLccccc, where ccccc represents the product code. This is similar to the handling of the Adabas license load module ADALIC described in Step 5: Customize and Start the Adabas Nucleus and Test Adabas Communications.

Alternatively, the license file can be referred to by a ‘DDLccccc’ (where ccccc represents the product code) DD statement in the nucleus job/started task. This is a fallback in case the DDLccccc module cannot be loaded.

For a list of license file names, load modules and DD/link names, refer to Adabas and Add-on Licenses.

Using the Adabas System Coordinator-based Add-ons

If Adabas Vista, Adabas Fastpath, Adabas Transaction Manager, or Adabas SAF Security is being used, please refer to Using COR-based Add-ons in the Release Notes for installation instructions.
