These Release Notes apply to Adabas Caching version 7.4.2 (formerly Adabas Dynamic Caching).
Adabas Caching can be used to improve system performance by augmenting the Adabas buffer pool in extended memory, data spaces, hiperspace and, in selected environments, 64-bit virtual storage.
Adabas Caching is available for BS2000 and all IBM ESA-compatible operating environments currently supported by Adabas.
Adabas Caching is supported by the Adabas release tape options described in the following table. For each option, information is provided about the types of cache space supported.

The following are prerequisites for Adabas Caching:
Adabas version 7.1 or above
Adabas Online System (AOS), either the demo version delivered with Adabas or full version available as a selectable unit, is a prerequisite for using the Adabas Caching Online Services.
Natural version 3.1 or above is a prerequisite for AOS and Adabas Caching Online Services.
Adabas Caching Online Services, which is the online, menu-driven application used to maintain and monitor the Adabas Caching environment, in now included as part of the Adabas version 7.4 Natural INPL dataset.
The installation tape for Adabas Caching contains the dataset for each supported operating system environment: OS/390 and z/OS, VSE/ESA, VM/ESA, BS2000.
Note:
The information below does not apply to VSE/ESA environments.
A special update dataset, ADA731.L001, is included with the ACF742.LOAD library. This dataset should be used when running Adabas Caching version 7.3.1, 7.4.1, or 7.4.2 with Adabas version 7.1 only.
