New, Modified and Dropped Features

This document describes the new and modified features in Adabas Version 7.1.1

New Features

Adabas Cluster for Linux

The functionality of Adabas has been extended by the feature Adabas Cluster for Linux. This feature must be purchased separately; it requires the additional licensing key for product ADC.

Adabas Cluster for Linux comprises several nodes, each running an own data base. Transactions executed on the primary node are replicated to all other nodes in the cluster. If the primary node fails, another node from the cluster will seamlessly take over the role of the primary node. For further details, please refer to the Adabas Cluster for Linux documentation.

Adabas Encryption for Linux

Starting with this version, PLOG files and files created by ADABCK can be encrypted.

Adabas RESTful Server

The Go-Version delivered with this release replaces the Java version of Adabas RESTful Server delivered with earlier releases. In addition, the upcoming release of Adabas Manager can use the functionality of Adabas RESTful Server to create encrypted databases.

Modified Features

On IO systems with a high latency, for example on cloud environments, the overall ADABAS performance has been increased using buffered IO.

The adanuc parameter UNBUFFERED=CLEAR has to be set to activate buffered IO. The integrity of the database is always guaranteed for the setting UNBUFFERED=CLEAR.

Dropped Features

License metering via Command Central has been removed from this version and is no longer supported.
